Vines
The vines grow mainly east-west, in contrast to the standard north-south direction typical of the valley. It is a contrasting exposure to date never used in the area, which has created “exasperated” fruits with far higher sugar/alcoholic content. The espalier training system is used to facilitate the growth of the vines in these somewhat difficult soils, assuring the base sufficient water supplies for emergency irrigation.
As far as technology is concerned, the company has equipped itself with the very best mechanical resources for the agricultural management of the vine as chemistry, in this specific case, is unable to help: thus we find tractors able to move safely and easily amidst the crags and slopes with a series of tools to work the land along the rows of vines.
The area between vines is grass covered and green manure is applied from time to time, without burial. It is a perfect blend of quality of territory and quality of grapes and, accordingly, of wines, which has yielded excellent results on both fronts.
